» Biomedics 55

Manufactured by Ocular Sciences, the Biomedics 55 (sometimes known as the Ultraflex 55) is one of the more popular non-Johnson & Johnson lenses on the market. Wear them daily for a week or two and then throw them away and start with a fresh pair. The 55 apparently stands for the 55% water content of the lenses (the other 45% is Polymer - ocufilcon D).

A year’s supply for each eye costs about the same as the Acuvue 2 (roughly $150 to $200), when ordered online.. Shopping around can save you BIG Bucks.

* Lens.com automatically adds a 6.5% handling fee to all orders. I’ve added that 6.5% to this price to show the real cost.

** LensWorld.com adds a $1.95 “Processing Fee” to all orders, so while I’ve added that to the individual box price, ordering subsequent boxes brings the price per box down dramatically.
