» About

I’ve been wearing glasses and contacts since I was in 4th or 5th grade. I can’t see much of anything without them. In October of 2006 my glasses broke on my face and spurred by ridiculous prices and an empty wallet I looked to the internet for help. I created the GlassyEyes.com website as an information clearinghouse for customers and prospective customers of the online eyeglasses sites.

I wear glasses for most of my day to day activities — I sit in front of a computer in the office across from my bedroom most days — but for hockey and other activities, nothing beats contacts. I live in Minnesota, so the winters are rough on glasses. If I’m going to be in and out for a chunk of the day, again, nothing beats not having to deal with steamed-up glasses.

I know there are a number of contact lens research sites on the web, but they have one thing in common — they’re bloated. You already know what you wear, let me help you find the best prices and discounts. Let us know how things worked out in the forums so that the people new to ordering online can make informed decisions.

Email me at ira [at] webloggist.com if you have any questions — I’m almost always online, and I’ll always respond.

    Hi Ira,

I’m living in South Africa but am on my way back to the US for a few weeks. I thought this might be an ideal time to arrange to buy contacts online with a prescription I get in this country. I was looking at some of these websites and they say that the prescription has to be verified and pre-existing. Does this mean that getting my eyes tested here in another country is a bad idea? I’m planning on getting the Biomedic 55’s if that’s relevant.
